8 Months

I have to start this post with the events of the very end of this month-

LILY IS CRAWLING
!!!!!!!!!!!

I can hardly believe it! It seems like we have been preparing for this forever, but it's a completely different experience when I actually watch her accomplish it. the feeling of pride is overwhelming. I know every healthy baby crawls, and it's probably not that spectacular of an achievement, but I am just constantly in awe of my little girl :)

Watch her go:

She got distracted by her mini-recliner, but then Daddy refocused her.

The other day when we were driving around Jackson, I was reading and I heard a giggle next to me. When I looked she was holding her blanket over her face, and then she peaked out at me. It was so cute! I only caught the very end of it with my phone:

She has been pulling up like crazy for a couple weeks now. She generally has trouble getting her grip on cloth furniture, but last night she crawled across the living room and pulled herself up on the ottoman right in front of me and gave me a big grin. It won't be long before she is climbing up into my lap all by herself!
She already uses me like a climbing wall. It's very hard to carry her around because she refuses to be still in my arms. She always wants to be standing, so she tries to crawl up my side and uses my ribs like a trampoline. Her personality is already full of energy and adventurous, and she is very much a daredevil. It's funny to me that at the same time she is incredibly sweet, stops pretty much every starnger in their tracks with her smile, and she is even a little bit fancy.

It's so much fun to watch her grow and develop - every day we feel so blessed to have her.

Definitely a Daddy's girl:

She is doing a lot of maneuvers in her sleep lately. Clay and I love to go investigate this each morning.

Love when Nana sings:

Watching baseball:

General cute-ness:

This is what she spent her time doing at our mother-daughter tea:

LOVE this face - she is so full of mischief:

She loves hanging out in her little rocking relincer - it was her Daddy's when he was a baby:

She has started tightening her whole body and scrunching up her face when she is somewhere she doesn't want to be - car seat, high chair, etc.
It's pretty funny, but it's also a good time to work on obedience. I think she is starting to realize that Mommy and Daddy aren't going to tolerate defiance and attitude, and she has been responding very well to "no" this month.

5/17/11 - 8 months:

She is waving at me nonchalantly. She has come a long way with her clapping and waving this month.

This month we celebrated Easter and Mother's Day, and we have been constantly reminded of how blessed we are to have her in our lives. Words cannot describe how special she is to us, and we thank God every day for our amazing little girl.

Happy 8 months, Lillian!!!
