9 Months

This month has been very busy! Lily started crawling and we went on vacation, 2 things I have already posted about here, so I won't spend a lot of time on them, and this post probably won't be too long. She is everywhere these days- if I believed in entering babies into contests, I would find a speed crawling one for her! She is also doing a lot of cruising and can transfer from one piece of furniture to another if they are within a foot of each other. We spend most nights finding ways to block off the living room so that she can roam safely. I shouldn't be surprised at this point, but it seems like she finds some new unsafe thing to get into each night for us to deal with.

We started off the month with a trip to Jackson for Clay's cousin's wedding. We stayed with Josh and Elise, and had lots of fun getting to spend time with little Isabel. This is the ride up there- she thought she was being sneaky in the dark, but my phone flash caught her:

As far as development, she is getting pretty good with her cup, and has mastered a straw. Her mobility is moving along very quickly- I imagine she will be walking soon. She likes everything we have given her to eat so far, except juice, which is fine with me because it's not good for her anyway. I would be surprised if we found a fruit/vegetable in the average produce department that she had not had at least once, but her favorites are zuchini, yellow squash, and watermelon. She also loves all meats and pastas. She makes the mama and dada sounds, but I don't think she has purposefully called for one of us yet. She knows who we are, though, because if I ask where dada is, she will look right at him and smile (and vice versa). Other than that, the only other thing she really says that is purposeful is "uh oh" (which is super cute, in my opinion). Otherwise, she does a lot of shouting! I think she is experiementing with volume right now :)

VACATION !!!

We got to take Lily on her 1st vacation this past week with her Nana and Papa. We had so much fun!

It all started with Erica's wedding in Roberta, GA. It was such a beautiful place. There were 3 lakes, lots of kittens, woods and fields, and even horses and ponies! We started both mornings with a ride through the entire camp on a golf cart. Lily loved this! Of course there were no paved areas, and Papa drove like a maniac, so her hair was blowing back in the wind. She thought it was the best time ever. She has a habit of shouting at things she wants, so she shouted at all the kitties we saw. She was very quiet and intrigued by the horses and petted them gently, and then not so gently - ha! It was very hot during the day, and I was surprised at how little that affected her. She got to spend time with a lot of family members she doesn't normally get to see, including her cousins.

The wedding was beautiful, and the next day, after dealing with the fact that we had apparently parked on top of an ant hill, we continued down to Orlando. Most of the days we spent by the resort pool.

Papa stopped at every tree and plant so that she could touch all of them and once she picked herself some flowers.

She is now an expert chess player... well maybe not so much.

Daddy walks me around the entire pool for one of my favorite activities - people watching.

Lily was hot and having trouble falling asleep at one point, so I took her under the waterfall where the air was cooler and the sound instantly put her to sleep. It was very relaxing and I held her there for a while just soaking the moment in.

One night in Orlando we went to the Arabian Nights dinner theater. It was pretty neat - Clay took Lily up to the front for awhile so she could get a better look at the horses.

Another night we went to Downtown Disney. We had dinner at Rainforest Cafe, which Clay thought Lily would like, and he was definitely correct. She was obsessed with the fish tanks and all of the animals. Then Clay and Lily rode the train, we walked around in some shops and bought her a princess nightgown, and went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

On Friday, we went to Magic Kingdom. We were all very excited about this and had picked out the different things each of us wanted to do with Lily. I have to admit, in the first 10 minutes after we stepped into the park it was hard for me to hold back the tears. For me to have a child, a little girl, and to be taking her to Disney World, was something that I never expected to happen for myself, but something that I had always dreamed about, and the feeling of that moment was very overwhelming.

We had an absolutely fantatsic day. this must be the perfect age to take a child to a park, because Lily was perfectly well behaved. She was so interested in everything. Her facial expressions and excitement were the most entertaining things for the adults.

The parade and light show at the end of the night were spectacular.

The last morning we did a breakfast buffet with Nana and Papa before they went home to Fort Myers and we went home to Atlanta. They had moved the week before, so we were so glad to have this time all together before we were officially 9 hours apart. The goodbye was very sad for all of the adults - but of course Lily had no idea, so here are her happy ride home pictures:

My Mickie balloon Papa bought me - she was obsessed with every balloon she saw at the park. If she suddenly started shouting and trying to leap out of my arms, I knew she had seen another balloon. When Papa bought it and her Daddy brought it to her, she started yelling and doing a full body vibration (much like her friend Brooks).

It took us 9 hours to get home with all of the stops, but Lily slept for at least half of it, and played happily for the rest.
