Lily's 1st Political Rally

Yesterday morning on the radio I heard that Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney were all either going to be in Fort Myers or the next town over. I got permission to leave work a couple hours early so that I could go see the candidate who I hope will be the next president - Newt Gingrich. I picked up Lily, because of course she had to come with me!

It was hot! Probably around 80 and the sun was beaming down on us. That coupled with the 2 hour wait in a crowd of 1000 people should have made this a horrible experience with a 16 month old, but we had a blast anyway! She played extensively with her Newt pamphlet, we danced to the America-themed country music that was blasting over the speakers, and met some new friends when she grabbed an old man's leg when I set her on the ground. I am always meeting new friends because of her :)

Hanging out on mommy's shoulder, surveilling the crowd.

My dad says this is evidence that she has the gift of prophesy  :)
Even Lily knows a good candidate when she sees one.

The growing crowd.

Playing at my feet (no trampling occurred - people actually seemed to be very kind and gave her space instead of pushing in together like they were in other areas).

It was a typical rally - a senior citizen passed out from the heat, an Occupy Fort Myers demonstrator was arrested, and our future First Lady, Ms. Callista's hair was perfect as always.

The crowd goes wild as the bus pulls up.

To see what Newt had to say:

Lily was hilarious, of course. She listened very intently from my shoulder and clapped on cue with the rest of the crowd - everything Newt had to say was Lily-approved :)
